Notice to Rehoboth Beach Visitors
from the City of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware
(This
information was written and provided by the City of Rehoboth
Beach.)
We believe
you will find Rehoboth Beach to be a unique vacation Spot where
you may choose to swim, bask in sun, stroll on the boardwalk
or in the quiet "Pines," join in the fun of numerous
sports events, enjoy our Bandstand activities, our fine shops
and the boardwalk rides as well as a variety of excellent restaurants
and night spots.
Churches
of major denominations are within walking distance and various
recreational programs are offered by the Summer Recreation Department.
We offer
all this for your enjoyment in an area of only one square mile.
Naturally, then, we must establish rules and regulations for
the comfort and safety of all. Your vacation will be more pleasant
if you are aware of local ordinances which affect your activities.
We will
also appreciate hearing from you about any facilities you feel
need attention for everyone's benefit. We are always happy to
receive constructive suggestions to improve our community. We
are all very proud of Rehoboth Beach.

your safety on the beach as well as in the water. Special Caution!
Our beach is protected from erosion by conservation jetties
(pier-like structures) which extend out into the ocean. (At
high tide the jetties are under water and cannot be seen.) Be
sure to note their location on the beach. It is dangerous to
wade or swim near the jetties at any time as they create water
currents and are encrusted with barnacles (salt water shellfish
having very sharp edges) as well as protruding hardware in their
construction. It is wise always to swim or wade directly in
front of the lifeguard stand.
No flotation
devices are allowed to be used on weekends and holidays. Surfboards
are only allowed on a certain designated beach and there is
also a designated beach, known as fishermans beach, for
surf fishing. The lifeguards will be happy to furnish further
information on flotation devices, surfboards and fishing.

or containers are allowed on the beach. Please deposit all trash
in the receptacles provided on the beach and the boardwalk.

games involving running and/or throwing are prohibited to prevent
accidental injuries to bystanders. Contact our summer recreation
department at (302) 227-6181 for more information concerning
special recreational events.
